ウィリアム・ヘムズリー
ウィリアム・ボッティング・ヘムズリー（William Botting Hemsley, 1843年12月29日 - 1924年10月7日）は、イギリスの著名な植物学者であり、王立植物園（キューガーデン）でその才能を発揮しました。
サセックスのイースト・ホースリーで生を受けたヘムズリーは、1860年からキューガーデンに勤務し、植物学の研究に没頭しました。彼の業績は高く評価され、1889年には王立協会のフェローに選出されています。
ヘムズリーは、トーマス・チーズマンとの共著『ニュージーランドの植物の図説』や、ダニエル・オリバー編纂の『熱帯アフリカの植物』において、クロウメモドキ連、キキョウ科、ゴマノハグサ科、ツチトリモチ科などの章を執筆し、その植物学に関する深い知識と洞察力を示しました。
彼の業績を称え、ウリ科の属名であるヘムスレイア属 Hemsleya が献名されています。
