クリス・デイト
クリス・デイト（Christopher J. Date, 1941年 - ）は、関係データベース技術を専門とする著名なコンピュータ科学者です。彼は特定の企業に属さず、独立した研究者として、関係データベースの分野で幅広い活動を展開しています。研究、講演、技術書の執筆、コンサルティングなどを通じて、関係データベースの普及と発展に尽力しています。

1967年、デイトはIBM Hursley（イギリス）に入社し、プログラミング講師として勤務しました。1969年から1974年の間は、IBMのヨーロッパ教育プログラムで主席講師を務めました。IBM在籍中には、エドガー・F・コッドが関係データベースの概念を提唱した際、その研究に協力しました。また、IBMの関係データベース管理システム（RDBMS）であるSQL/DSやDB2の開発にも参加し、技術的な側面から計画や設計を担いました。1983年にIBMを退社しています。
現在、デイトはヒュー・ダーウェンと共同で、関係モデルの多岐にわたる研究を行っています。彼らは、関係モデル研究の第一人者として、広く認知されています。
